I was about to toss this crooked spoon, but then I thought, “This spoon reminds me of me; it’s still functional, just a little off-center.”
So I personified it, as I tend to do with many inanimate objects, and I felt bad for it. Now, I can’t throw it away.
It reminds me of the other night when I was out at this influencer event in Boston. I texted my husband, “There are a lot of really weird people here.” And, he replied, “Well, those are your people.”
Touche.
Maybe he’s right? There’s nothing wrong with being a little off-center. That’s why you shouldn’t drive down the center lane! I will keep this spoon as a reminder to myself that it’s okay to be different, and veering off to the side of the road, taking a break, or choosing an alternate path, is sometimes where you find the magic.
