This is one of my favorite photos, because it carries so many meanings and memories for me.
I drove the kids to Lowe’s so we could make the front path of our condo look nice. It was fairly sparse and ugly, and we wanted to put white rocks, which my friend later deemed it “Florida meets NJ sparkle.”
Caroline’s outfit–her white heels, in particular, crack me up. They are so trashy, but I loved the outfit, because she picked it out herself. She is half in pajamas and half in clothing. James, too, is in his pajamas. I just let this go–often–for two reasons:
1. I legit was in the weeds as a single mom, working full-time, always, and their outfits were something secondary.
2. I wanted them to be comfortable and be themselves, and this is what they chose to wear.
These were not great times for me. In fact, they were probably one of the worst times in my life. But, my children made it better.
We were a fierce trio, and this pic says it all.
That’s why I love it.
