As a writer, I try to do something productive to move my writing career forward every day. It doesn’t have to be actually writing, but it could also be creating a social media post or a Tik Tok video or even reading a book that’s in my genre.
While not everyone is a writer, it seems it would be useful for everyone to do one thing each day that will advance them in their lives and their careers.
Here are some examples of things you might want to try to do:
Take a walk: I find walking without listening to anything often provides me the solace to come up with new things to write about. It also allows me to go through my to-do list and check things off in my head or make a mental note that something needs to be done.
Blog: Just sit at the computer and create a blog post about what you’re thinking about. Or, was there a conversation you overheard at Starbucks that you can extrapolate on? Did something cool or annoying happen to you today? Just write it down. You can always delete it!
Create a video: You don’t need Tik Tok, just a phone. Create a video of you talking about something of interest, and you can post this on your social media channels. People are fascinated by videos, for some reason, and it will get their attention.
Read a book or listen to a podcast: I often find inspiration reading others’ posts or books, or listening to podcasts in different genres. Remember, you are what you absorb–kinda like, you are who your friends are? Surround yourself daily with ideas, people, reading, and entertainment that inspire you! What you take in eventually comes out. Wait, that sounds weird, but I think you know what I mean…
